Institutional Visit to Punarjani Charitable Trust for De-addiction and Rehabilitation
The Department of Psychology, KVUM Darul Hidaya Orphanage College, organized an institutional visit to Punarjani Charitable Trust for De-addiction and Rehabilitation, Poomala Dam, and Athirappalli Waterfalls in Thrissur District on October 29, 2024. Forty-five students and five teachers embarked on
this enriching experience, departing at 6:00 AM and returning at 10:00 PM. At Punarjani Charitable Trust, students gained valuable insights into rehabilitation services for substance abuse and addiction. They interacted with centre staff and inmates, understanding the rehabilitation process, counselling techniques, and challenges faced by individuals struggling with addiction. This practical exposure enhanced their understanding of addiction psychology. Following lunch, the group visited Poomala Dam and Athirappalli Waterfalls, marveling at the breathtaking views and scenic surroundings. These natural wonders fostered team bonding, relaxation, and a deeper appreciation for nature's beauty. This institutional visit achieved its objective of providing students with practical exposure to rehabilitation services and enhancing their understanding of addiction psychology. It fostered empathy, teamwork, and social awareness among participants. The department recommends collaborative projects with Punarjani Charitable Trust for research and internship opportunities and similar visits to
